Short Story
The American International School of Cape Town (AISCT) Basketball Team’s are excited to launch this campaign at the SAISA Basketball Tournament on the 29th of January 2026, raising funds in support of Westlake Primary School. We invite and encourage all teams participating in the tournament to get involved in the Points for Purpose campaign, using the power of basketball to make a meaningful difference.
The funds raised will go directly towards sports equipment, sports kits, and the appointment of a specialist sports employee, helping to strengthen and grow Westlake Primary School’s sports programme.
As part of the Points for Purpose initiative at SAISA Basketball 2026, supporters are invited to either pledge R100 (USD $6) through Sport For Lives for every 3 points scored for all games during the tournament, or make a once-off donation.
We believe that sport has the power to change lives. It unites communities, inspires generosity, and creates a culture of giving. This campaign supports Westlake Primary School by investing in the future of its young learners and providing them with the resources they need to thrive both on and off the court.

Story
Westlake Primary School is the only school serving the Westlake community, an area facing significant socio-economic challenges. As a no-fee public school, we currently educate 800 learners from Grade R to Grade 7. Our class sizes range between 36 and 41 learners per class. The WCED funds only 19 teaching posts, with no provision for sports coaches or teacher assistants. As a result, we rely heavily on the generosity of external donors to help support the essential needs of our school.
Despite these challenges, we are fortunate to have a dedicated team of passionate educators who consistently go above and beyond their call of duty. Our vision is to holistically develop every learner in our care.
We offer a variety of extracurricular activities, including girls’ and boys’ soccer, rugby, mini-cricket (recently introduced), netball, choir, dance, and drama. Each year, our learners proudly participate in the South African Shakespeare Festival, showcasing their talent on a national stage.
Westlake Primary School is a beacon of hope within our community. We change lives daily — not only for our learners, but for their families as well. Many of our learners are part of our school feeding programme, which provides essential support to our children.
